The Studio

This peaceful & welcoming sanctuary in beachside South Freo is the perfect location to start exploring the more rare aspect of spiritual practice, yoga & meditation.

You may find a competitive atmosphere in most yoga classes, to varying degrees. At Spanda School we embrace the potency of what is possible with a functional, trauma-informed and meditative practice.

At Spanda School the focus is refreshing & eye-opening. Through our daily drop-in sessions and longer programs, we prepare to integrate the fullness of our life experience, in body, mind and spirit.

Community
Our Pièce de résistance is the relaxed and welcoming community.

We believe that connection to community is hardwired into our biology.
Just as air is essential to our lungs, amazing friends & meaningful relationships are essential to our heart and our soul.

Feeling welcome and at ease helps to facilitate deep healing in our yoga practice. Safety triggers an embodied presence that connects us to what is here and meaningful to us, allowing us to process what’s needed, often without conscious effort.

Our Beliefs

We believe that life is a journey to discover our full potential.

We believe that we are here to celebrate, to flourish, to integrate profound wisdom of “Being”, and to heal.

We believe that the human experience is beautiful; including all the hardships, we believe that life is inherently, profoundly beautiful. And everything is orchestrated perfectly to support us in our growth, flourishing and ultimately happiness.

We believe that becoming sensitive to the wisdom of our Hearts, body, nature and community are the catalysts that make spiritual teachings & communities the medicine for this planet.

FAQs

At Spanda School, we have highly experienced teachers who provide options for the different levels of flexibility, injury and fitness.

We recommend Yin and Gentle classes for beginners as they are slower. This will support the connection to and awareness of your body that is required for the faster and strong practice: Vinyasa classes.

There is plenty of free and timeless parking in the area along Ada St. Rose St and Marine Terrace. Please check time limits along South Terrace. Our entrance is from South Terrace.

Note – early evenings the area becomes busy due to the number of places to eat & drink and you may need to park a short walk away from the Studio. Please allow enough time for this.

All equipment is provided, we ask that you wipe down props after use.

You are welcome to bring any of your own props

Rock up in comfy clothes, leave your shoes and belongings in the cubbies before entering the studio.

Meditation and a return to the present moment is our gift at Spanda School.

The free meditation sessions in-studio and online are a great place to start practicing meditation.
The free meditation spaces do not so much ‘teach’ meditation, rather they offer a space for everyone to practice.

The ”Start Meditation” course is the best option for learning meditation. It is beneficial even if you have a current practice as it clarifies foundational elements so you can go deeper, faster.

Get in touch to learn more or visit the courses section.

Our classes are meditative and introspective so require the capacity to sit still and go inward. Our weekly classes are aimed at adults, however, we have had some incredible kids come in and enjoy a practice with their parents. All children require the supervision of their parents. All students receive concession prices on casual visits, and children under 16 years old attend casually at $15 per class.

Speak to us about your individual circumstances and we can share our options for people with injury, disability or ageing concerns.

Yin yoga is accessible for some elderly people and those with disabilities as it is a quiet & mindful practice with few physical requirements. It is done entirely on the floor and is sometimes called ‘restorative yoga’.

The free meditation space and meditation classes can also be suitable, as we encourage participants to use chairs.
